Embroidery Process
Karen's Embroidery uses a computerized machine to create custom embroidery. An embroidery machine creates lettering and images on textiles. Machine embroidery is usedcommercially to create logos on uniforms and caps, personalize shirts, aprons, and visors, and other applications. Most any fabric item can be made unique by applying embroidery.
I have a large inventory of digitized embroidery design files available or I can create a digitized version of your unique image.
I use a digitized design and, if necessary, uses software to edit it or combine it with other designs. The embroidery machine program allows me the flexibility to rotate, scale, move, stretch, distort, divide, crop, or duplicate the design. It also assists me in adding text.
The embroidery machine is computer controlled and specifically engineered for embroidery. The embroidery machine has a framing system that holds the framed area of fabric taut under the sewing needle and moves it automatically to create a design from a programmed digital embroidery pattern.
Fabric to be embroidered must be stabilized in order to prevent wrinkling. The method for stabilizing depends on the type and density of the fabric. Fabric stabilizers or interfacing are placed underneath the fabric, on top of the fabric, or in both places as needed. Smaller items for embroidery are placed in a hoop which is attached to the machine.
Once the fabric is stabilized the actual embroidery begins. Designs of multiple colors require additional processing as do appliqués and other special effects. Depending on the quality and size of the design, sewing a design file can require anywhere from a few minutes to hours to complete.
